Exceptionally lovely work by Paul Helleu, famous turn-of-the-century artist who was best friend of the American painter John Singer Sargent.

Poster is advertising the services of famed French printer Edmond Sagot, a dealer, initially working in books, who moved into 'L'Art' in 1880, and set up his own firm in 1883. He began specializing in posters in 1886, and published his first catalogue in 1891 and also published numerous original prints by contemporary French artists. (source: The British Museum)
