This figure represents "Till Eulenspiegel", a legendary German trickster that died in 1350, famed for playing practical jokes on clerics and townspeople alike. His name translates from High German as "owl mirror", hence the symbolism here. Beautifully printed 1880's French poster. One of 30 different wonderful characters including Kings, Queens, Devils, Jesters and quite a few with musical instruments.
