Notes: Yuri Vladimirovich Durova was born January 12, 1910 in St. Petersburg. He was raised in a circus family, and grew up as an assistant to his grandfather and uncle. He began working independently as an animal trainer in 1935. Durova ran one of the USSR's largest animal attractions, he had more than 100 animals and birds of various species. Yuri Durova toured extensively in the USSR and abroad. He died on tour in Brussels on February 22, 1971.
