For the 1984, 80-minute re-release that famed Giorgio Moroder restored and produced, and which had a pop soundtrack written by Moroder and performed by himself, Pat Benatar, Bonnie Tyler, Jon Anderson, Adam Ant, Cycle V, Loverboy, Billy Squier, and Freddie Mercury. It was a first serious attempt made at restoring Metropolis to Lang's original vision.
