Printed by Pichot, Paris This is a before-letters version of a poster advertising a production of Chekri Ganem’s play Antar, starring Blanche Dufréne. Ganem was a French-Lebanese journalist and poet whose many works often express his vehement support of Lebanese independence from the Ottoman Empire. Dufréne acted alongside Sarah Bernhardt throughout her brief career, taking over for the actress in a 1919 production of La Dame aux Camelias. Sadly, she hanged herself before a performance at age 44
