Lovely eight page publication from 1902. Gil Blas was a Parisian literary periodical founded by Augustin-Alexandre Dumont in November 1879. It was in publication until 1914. It had a series of famous contributors, both authors and artists. This printing includes a drawing by Pablo "Ruiz" Picasso. Picasso moved to Paris in 1901, and like many other young artists looking for exposure and sustenance, turned to the many literary publication of the day for illustration jobs. This is a rare piece of history; the early years of the artist who was to become one of the most revered names in art history.
