c.1937 offset lithograph French travel poster (using artwork created in 1936) promoting travel to the Champagne region in France showing the Basilique Notre-Dame de l'Épine (Basilica of Our Lady of the Thorn) in the small village of L'Épine, Marne, near Châlons-en-Champagne and Verdun. It is a major masterpiece in the "Flamboyant Gothic" style.
NOTE: The size of this poster is smaller than earlier Chemin de Fer posters because around 1938, the five private railway companies began to merge, founding the SNCF and the old PLM/Chemin de Fer poster format (approx 41x30 inches) was being abandoned in favor of the international tourist format (25x39 inches).
