1971 Poster Prints. Toronto, Ontario. Lightly embossed in this poster reads the slogan "White is Beautiful Too", a phrase obviously created in reaction to the popular "Black is Beautiful" slogan African Americans adopted in the 1970's as a much needed affirmation of Black beauty during the civil rights movement and struggle for equality. This is basically the equivalent of the current "All Lives Matter" slogan which works to diminish the "Black Lives Matter" movement. Not to be overlooked is the irony that the white couple pictured are in faux Native American costume.
